Atlas is operated by Aeternum Capital Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), registered in England and Wales. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the Atlas platform at atlas-cities.net.
Account data: When you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Saved cities: If you save cities to your watchlist, we store the city name, country, and expat score associated with your account.
Usage data: We track basic usage metrics such as quiz attempts per day, stored locally in your browser via localStorage. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.
Alert preferences: If you enable weekly email alerts, we store your alert preferences and use your email address to send city intelligence summaries.
We use your data to: provide and personalise the Atlas service, save your city watchlist, send weekly alert emails when enabled, enforce free-tier usage limits, and improve the platform. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling beyond the core service.
Your account and watchlist data is stored securely in Supabase, a cloud database platform with row-level security enabled. Your data is isolated to your account and cannot be accessed by other users. Supabase infrastructure is hosted on AWS with encryption at rest and in transit.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with the following service providers as necessary to operate Atlas:
- Supabase (authentication and database hosting)
- Resend (email delivery for alerts)
- Vercel (application hosting)
- Anthropic (AI-powered city intelligence generation)
These providers process data only as necessary to deliver their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.
If you are located in the UK or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your data. You can delete your watchlist at any time. To delete your account entirely, contact us.
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
- Objection: Object to processing of your data for certain purposes.

Atlas uses essential cookies and localStorage for authentication sessions and usage tracking (quiz limits). We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
We retain your account data and watchlist for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised usage data may be retained for service improvement.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), row-level security in our database, and secure authentication via OAuth 2.0.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via the platform. Continued use of Atlas after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
